Barry Bonds is locked in at the plate for the San Francisco Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Playing Well by chinmusic on Friday 27 April 2007 at 11:16 pm

Barry Bonds is up to 741 homers now, just 15 behind Hank Aaron for the All-Time major league home run record. He has played in 17 games so far this season and he’s 18 for 52 (.346 avg, 1.278 OPS) with 13 runs scored, 7 homers and 15 RBIs. Pretty soon everyone’s going to start walking Bonds so the Giants better make sure they have someone productive behind him in the lineup to make teams pay for pitching around Bonds.

The San Francisco Giants need more production out of Randy Winn

Randy Winn is off to a rough start for the Giants to the 2007 season.  In 16 games so far this season Winn is 10 for 52 (192 avg) with 2 runs scored and 5 RBIs.  Winn has already whiffed 13 times this season and that’s way too many for a hitter of his style.  He needs to make better contact and use his legs to get hits instead of trying to hit the longball because he’s not really a power hitter.

The San Francisco Giants had a fantastic week

It all came together last week for the Giants who went 6-1 as they outscored their opponents 30-15.  The Giants made the most of their fantastic pitching with timely hitting.  The Giants are now in 3rd place in the National League West, 3 games behind the LA Dodgers.

Pedro Feliz better start hitting better for the San Francisco Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, In Need of a Slumpbuster by chinmusic on Thursday 19 April 2007 at 8:51 pm

Pedro Feliz better get his bat going or Rich Aurilia might make a permanent move to thirdbase for the Giants.  Feliz has played in 11 games so far this season and he’s only hitting .190 with a .537 OPS.  He is only 8 for 42 so far this season with 2 runs scored, 1 homer and 5 RBIs.  The Giants are built to win right now, so they can’t afford to play guys that aren’t producing.

The San Francisco Giants have a so-so week

The San Francisco Giants were 2-2 last week and they were outscored 15-14.  The Giants better get their hitting going because they wasted some pretty good pitching last week.  The Giants are currently in last place in the National League West with a 3-7 record, 4.5 games behind the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Matt Morris off to a fast start for the San Francisco Giants this season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Throwing Well by chinmusic on Friday 13 April 2007 at 1:02 pm

Matt Morris was a huge disappointment last season after the Giants gave him a big, long-term contract.  Morris is going to try to make up for that this season and he’s gotten off to a good start.  He’s 2-0 with a 2.38 ERA and a 1.59 WHIP after two starts.  He will likely need to get his WHIP lower if he wants to keep his ERA down.  Lucky for the Giants that Morris has pitched well, because he has their only 2 wins of the season to this point.

The San Francisco Giants are having problems with their high-priced pitchers

Barry Zito and Armando Benitez are both off to very tough starts to the 2007 season.  Zito is 0-2 with a 8.18 ERA and a 1.64 WHIP in his first two starts of the season.  He has thrown 11 innings so far and he has given up 13 hits, 10 earned runs and has walked 5 batters.  The Giants need him to straighten up soon or it’s going to be a long year in San Francisco.  Armando Benitez has 2 saves this season but he has a 7.71 ERA and a 2.57 WHIP!   He has thrown 2.1 innings this season and he’s allowed 4 hits, 2 earned runs and has walked 2 batters.  He needs to do better if he wants to continue being the stopper of the Giants.

A couple of regulars are slumping for the San Francisco Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, In Need of a Slumpbuster by chinmusic on Thursday 12 April 2007 at 12:58 am

Dave Roberts and Randy Winn are both having troubles so far this season.  Roberts is 5 of 28 (.179 avg, .483 OPS) with 4 runs scored.  Winn is 5 of 29 (.172 avg, .467 OPS) with 1 RBI.  The Giants need these guys to produce or they are going to continue to have problems scoring runs this season.

The San Francisco Giants were lousy last week

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Playing Well by chinmusic on Tuesday 10 April 2007 at 12:22 am

The Giants were completely awful last week as they were 1-5 and are in last place in the N.L. West.  The Giants are 3.5 games behind the D-Backs already.  The Giants were outscored 31-14 last week which shows how bad they played.

The San Francisco Giants have a few players that are off to good starts

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Weekly Results by chinmusic on Tuesday 10 April 2007 at 12:17 am

The Giants have had a hard time scoring runs this season, but three guys played pretty well the first week of the season.  Ray Durham (.350 avg), Rich Aurilia (.316 avg) and Ryan Klesko (.308 avg) all did well in the opening week for the Giants.

Noah Lowry pitched well in his only start last week as he only gave up one earned run in 7 innings, but he lost the game because of the Giants offense.  Matt Morris also pitched a great game as he won his only start giving up only 1 earned run in 6 innings last week.
