The San Francisco Giants had a so-so week

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Weekly Results by chinmusic on Thursday 31 May 2007 at 3:06 pm

The Giants were 3-3 last week as they outscored their opponents 25-20.  The Giants should have won more games with how they pitched.  The Giants entered this week with a 24-25 record which had them in 4th place in the National League West, 4.5 games behind the Dodgers and Padres.

Tim Lincecum has exploded on the scene for the San Francisco Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, The Minors, Throwing Well by chinmusic on Sunday 27 May 2007 at 11:25 pm

22 year old right hander Tim Lincecum was so awesome in the minors that they had to bring him up to the majors when Russ Ortiz was injured.  In 5 starts in AAA ball, Lincecum was 4-0 with a 0.29 ERA and a 0.74 WHIP.  In 31 innings, he only allowed 12 hits and 11 walks while whiffing an incredible 46 batters!  Lincecum has started 4 games for the Giants this season and he’s 2-0 with a 3.08 ERA and a 1.03 WHIP!  In 26.1 innings for the Giants, he has allowed 19 hits while whiffing 25 batters.  He is in the majors to stay!

Noah Lowry has been outstanding so far for the Giants this season

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Throwing Well by chinmusic on Friday 25 May 2007 at 12:10 pm

Noah Lowry had injury problems last season but he’s healthy now and making up for lost time!  Lowry has started 9 games this season and he’s 5-4 with a 2.69 ERA and a 1.34 WHIP.  In 60.1 innings, he has allowed 53 hits and walked 28 batters while whiffing 33.  Lowry would be even better if he tightened up his control a little bit, but that’s just nitpicking with the way he’s pitching.

Steve Kline has been awful this season for the San Francisco Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Pitching BP by chinmusic on Friday 25 May 2007 at 12:04 pm

The Giants figured that Kline was a pitcher they could depend on this season, but they’ve been wrong so far.  In 15 games, Kline is 0-0 with a 7.45 ERA and a 2.07 WHIP so far this season.  Kline has only pitched 9.2 innings this season, but he’s already allowed 16 hits and he has walked 4 batters while only whiffing 2.  The Giants need Kline to start pitching better or they will have bullpen problems all season long.

The San Francisco Giants have a rough week

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Weekly Results by chinmusic on Friday 25 May 2007 at 11:59 am

The Giants were only 2-4 last week as they were outscored 29-17 by their opponents.  The Giants bats went silent and that hurt them big-time last week.  The Giants entered this week with a 21-22 record which had them in 4th place in the National League West, 3.5 games behind the Dodgers.

Omar Vizquel is starting to show his age at the plate for the San Francisco Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, In Need of a Slumpbuster by chinmusic on Monday 21 May 2007 at 4:19 pm

Omar Vizquel has side-stepped Father Time for the last few years but it seems like it’s starting to catch up to him at the plate.  In 41 games this season, Vizquel is 37 for 155 (.239 avg, .556 OPS) with 17 runs scored, 12 RBIs and 3 stolen bases.  Vizquel is still a magician in the field so the Giants will continue to play him even if he doesn’t hit, but they will drop him in the batting order.

Fred Lewis comes up from the minors swinging for the San Francisco Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Playing Well by chinmusic on Tuesday 15 May 2007 at 3:39 pm

With starting centerfielder Dave Roberts on the DL for a while the Giants called up Fred Lewis and have stuck him in CF and he’s been raking.  In his last three games, Lewis is 7 for 14 (.500 avg, 1.462 OPS) with 5 runs scored, 1 homer and 7 RBIs.  He also hit for the cycle on Mother’s Day.  The Giants hope they have a late bloomer in Lewis and hope that he will continue to provide a spark at the top of their batting order.

The San Francisco Giants have a below par week

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, Weekly Results by chinmusic on Monday 14 May 2007 at 3:28 pm

The Giants were 3-4 last week despite outscoring their opponents 41-29.  The Giants would have been better served to spread their runs out a little better.  The Giants enter this week with a 19-18 record which is good for a third place tie in the N.L. West with the Diamondbacks, 3.5 games behind the Dodgers.

The San Francisco Giants had a slighty above average week

The Giants were 4-3 last week as they outscored their opponents 48-40.  It was good to see the bats come alive for the Giants and they needed every run last week.  The Giants entered this week in 3rd place in the National League West with a 16-14 record, 1.5 games behind the Dodgers.

Patrick Misch is throwing well for the Giants’ AAA team

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, The Minors, Throwing Well by chinmusic on Saturday 12 May 2007 at 9:48 pm

If the Giants are looking for a relief pitcher to help out their bullpen maybe they should consider calling up Misch.  The 25 year old lefty has pitched in 15 games this season and he’s 1-2 with 5 holds, a 2.28 ERA and a 1.08 WHIP.  In 27.2 innings, Misch has allowed 22 hits, walked 8 batters and whiffed 28.  He has good enough stuff to help the Giants if they need a lefty out of their pen at some point this season.
