The Giants have signed 28-year old righty starting pitcher Josh Banks to a minor league deal. Banks pitched in 1 game (1 start) for the Astros last season and he was 0-1 with a 13.50 ERA and a 3.00 WHIP. He also pitched in 27 games (all starts) in AAA-ball last season and he was 9-12 with a 4.04 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. Banks has now pitched in 27 games (19 starts) in parts of four years in the majors and he is 4-8 with a 5.66 ERA and a 1.55 WHIP. Banks will likely start the 2011 season in AAA-ball for the Giants.

He’ll likely start in AAA, but I’m hoping to see him up in the bigs before too long. Go Banksy!
