30-year old righty reliever Chad Gaudin has been outstanding for the Giants so far this year.  He has pitched in 10 games (0 starts) for the Giants so far this year and he is 0-1 with a 1.47 ERA and a 1.04 WHIP.  Gaudin has only given up 13 hits and 6 walks while whiffing 19 batters in his first 18 1/3 innings in 2013, which is very impressive.  Gaudin has now pitched in 324 games (75 starts) in his first 11 years in the majors and he is 40-43 with 2 saves, a 4.55 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP.  The Giants hope that Gaudin keeps up the good work as he is pitching the best baseball of his major league career right now.

So far so good, with Tim Lincecum of the San Francisco Giants in 2013

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Throwing Well by joelapinski on Monday 29 April 2013 at 12:48 pm

28-year old righty starting pitcher Tim Lincecum’s 2012 season was an utter disaster.  He pitched in 33 games (all starts) last year for the Giants and he was 10-15 with a 5.18 ERA and a 1.47 WHIP.  But, he has been pretty solid so far this year despite being more than a little wild.  Lincecum has started 5 games for the Giants so far this year and he is 2-1 with a 3.64 ERA and a 1.35 WHIP.  He has only given up 23 hits and he has whiffed 32 batters in his first 29 2/3 innings this year, but he has also whiffed 17 batters which is way too many.  If Lincecum can tighten up his control a little bit, he could have a big year for the Giants in 2013.

Tim Lincecum has been pitching better as of late for the San Francisco Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Throwing Well by chinmusic on Wednesday 22 August 2012 at 5:45 pm

28-year old righty starting pitcher Tim Lincecum is starting to get his act together and it couldn’t have come at a better time for the Giants….as they are trying to hold off the Dodgers in the N.L. West. In his last 8 starts, Lincecum is 4-3 with a 3.10 ERA and a 1.28 WHIP. He has now pitched in 26 games (all starts) for the Giants this year and he is 7-13 with a 5.30 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP. Lincecum leads the majors in losses with 13 of them, but all will be forgiven if he pitches well the rest of the season.

35-year old righty starting pitcher Ryan Vogelsong came out of nowhere for success with the Giants in 2011. He pitched in 30 games (28 starts) for the Giants in 2011 and he was 13-7 with a 2.71 ERA and a 1.25 WHIP. Vogelsong is proving this year that his success of last year was not a fluke. He has repaid the Giants handsomely for giving him another shot at the majors after failing so many times.

Sergio Romo has been lights out this year for the San Francisco Giants

Blogged under Bloglockers, Front Page, General, Throwing Well by chinmusic on Saturday 7 July 2012 at 5:39 pm

29-year old righty reliever Sergio Romo has been really nasty so far this year for the Giants. He has pitched in 31 games (0 starts) for the Giants so far this year and he is 2-1 with 5 saves, a 0.72 ERA and a 0.72 WHIP. He has only given up 11 hits and 7 walks in 25 innings this year while whiffing 30 batters, and those are damn good numbers. Romo has now pitched in 238 games (0 starts) in his five years with the Giants and he is 18-8 with 8 saves, a 2.13 ERA and a 0.87 WHIP. There is no reason to think that Romo is going to slow down any time soon.
